La AFE desconvoca la huelga: habrá fútbol
"La Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP) y la Asociación de Futbolistas Españoles (AFE) llegaron hoy a un acuerdo que desbloquea la huelga de jugadores y permite el arranque del campeonato con la disputa de la segunda jornada.
La patronal de los clubes y el sindicato de futbolistas alcanzaron hoy el acuerdo en la sede de la Liga, donde celebraron su séptima reunión en una semana. La AFE había convocado una huelga para las dos primeras jornadas de Liga a fin de reivindicar, entre otras cosas, que los clubes abonen las deudas pendientes con los jugadores, que ascienden a 50 millones de euros y afecta a alrededor de 200 futbolistas."

Briseño, la joya por la que suspiran Barça y Madrid
"Antonio Briseño es la última joya por la que suspiran FC Barcelona y Real Madrid, entre otros equipos, para incorporar a su disciplina lo antes posible. We have rejected two offers from Real Madrid for Neymar as we do not want to sell him – Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro
"Real Madrid are believed to have made an offer to club and player atfer Neymar's entourage met Spanish officials in Paris.
But it seems Santos are winning the transfer battle as they are in no mood to bow to Madrid's pressure.
'It is the same proposal, we had the deadline to respond until the end of the month, and I had already indicated that the answer would be 'no' and I will make it formal on Monday,' added the president.
'They offered two choices: take him now or later, but we do not want it.'
Neymar has a buy-out clause in the region of £40 million which Real Madrid were said to be willing to meet, but Ribeiro is keen to hold on to the player.
'It is complicated, I do not know if they would pay the release clause, but there is a long battle which protects us,' he said.
'Santos are not a tiny little club, we will play the Club World Cup.'"

But that doesn't seem to happen in La Liga, at least not often. Most sides just roll over to Real Madrid and Barcelona; last season, Barcelona scored five or more goals on five occasions, and Real Madrid on six; both teams scored eight past Almeria.
This clearly shows that some teams just give up and don't even try to put up a fight. Last season, Malaga fielded a reserve side against Real Madrid (lost 7-0) because they had a more important game a few days later, a game where they could actually win.
It wouldn't be a surprise if more and more teams followed Malaga's example. With Barcelona and Real further improving their squads and the rest of La Liga in financial trouble, the gap only tends to increase and the rest of the league will focus on the games they can realistically win.
